    Mike Poole traveled from the UK to Florida for a vacation with family. I met him this morning at Lake Morton in Lakeland, Florida. It was nice to put a face to the posts and comments in BPN. I captured this image this morning at Lake Morton. Comments and critique welcomed and appreciated. Thank you for viewing.

    Nikon D500
    Nikon 500mm PF, camera and lens supported by a Oben carbon fiber monopod with a Wimberly MonoGimbal head
    1/2000 F/5.6 Matrix Metering EV +1 ISO 9000 Auto 1 WB, image captured at 500mm (750mm 35mm Equivalent)
    Post processed in Lightroom Classic, Photoshop CC 2022 and Topaz Denoise AI, cleaned up a couple areas where the brick wall peaked through the grass
    Cropped for composition and presentation

    I like this backside view Joe! You managed to get a good head turn, the flowers in the BG are a nice touch as well. Nice work!

    Great to meet you Joe, and all the assistance was much appreciated.

    Lovely frame - ISO 9000? I take it this was early on when I was off bothering the pelicans? Great IQ, perfect shooting and head angle and I too like the extra interest from the flowers.

    Hi Mike, actually it was when I was sitting on the second bench around the corner from the first bench I sat on. The bird landed between us on the brick wall at the lake edge. The bird was in the shade and I left the shutter speed at 1/2000 so that is why the ISO 9000. I agree it was nifty galifty to meet you, thank you for viewing and commenting.

    Nice! A good dorsal view here, and the clovers add a lot to the scene. Getting a few inches higher would have helped here IMO - to clear the feather tips form the grasses.
