Tern Chicks - Nickerson Beach, Long Island NY

Made this image with Joe last week. These are the twins Joe speaks about and sure were cute and doing well. Looks like I will be heading back Sunday for another crack at the flock!

Nice interaction between the individuals. Good DOF to keep them both sharp. Well, this might sound a bit crazy but I was wondering as to how it would look if the birds were off centered towards left - thereby showing some more of the OOF plants on top-right of the frame. I feel it can create some balance & kinda liked the OOF plants in this image. Also does the frame require a wee bit of CCW rotation (just a little bit).

    Hi George,
Very cute image. I'd be curious to see a version with the birds toward the LLC and the grass up in the URC.

Wow, George, love this one. This one definitely gets a "cuteness alert" attached to it! You nailed the focus/sharpness and exposure. I like the composition as is.

Did you use any exposure compensation on this image?

Now if only I could get one even half as good as this one on Sunday! I've really enjoyed seeing the posts by you and Joe. Gives me something to "shoot" for .... someday...

    George,
I really got a chuckle out of this image and your title. I wasn't expecting the baby chicks.
Very nice image. I love the OOF plants in the top right. I think the composition is great as is though.
You have such detail in these little guys. Very sharp and very well composed.

I love it, nice situation, very well exposed, I would try to crop some of the bottom, but still, excellent shot! Congrats!

You may not get out to photograph as much as you'd like......but you sure make the most of the time you get. This is just terrific. I love those little guys and their expressions. And.....that wonderful touch of green in the corner. Excellent.

George, you crack me up! I was reading about some of the suggestions above and went ahead and tried another crop. I also brought the lightness down just a touch because it looked a little washed out on my monitor (could just be me.) See what you think - I think it could still maybe use a little more canvas and grass on the right side.

Too cute George.. We were there today, twins are fine and growing.. many photographers came from out of state so it was a bit crazy on the beach

    George,
This is Impressive. Hillarious title but pretty apt. I can see you moving towards that BBC next year. :-)

    Hey Julie!

Thanks for the suggestion. Actually I like both which is probably because I change my mind way too much when looking at my stuff! :D

Good ideas here thanks folks! Glad you like it too! :)

sweet image as posted IMO.....the space is good.
would be tempted to try without the grass

love the sharpness of the little beaks in contrast to the soft downy feathers
