I like the lighting here with some reflected off the water. Nice wing extension and details. The lattice background is interesting.
There seems to be a bit of noise in the BG, is that within your tolerance limits? I would most likely have reduced it.

Great wing position and angle of the bird. I like the dark and light BG, it helps separate the subject nicely. I a also see some noise. Saw you were only at ISO 1100. Was this a large crop?

Hi Randy ... the subject and its flight posing is very very good , perfect angle of shooting .
Well timed .
The BG isn't ideal for me , but sometimes we canīt choose. I would try to equalize the tones a bit .
From the noise POV not the best marketing image for the Z9 .... would expect way cleaner file , at that Iso there should be almost no noise visible .
But I think this is a result of something else you have done to the frame .... i.e. texture in LR /ACR .

Love the flight pose and all the brown feathers with their edgings, and the light on the face and the peek at the feet. The underwing coverts seem much too bright and the light on the purple speculum is uneven.

Great capture but it looks overprocessed to me, I would suggest having another process and just do the absolute minimum.

Thanks everyone. I guess I spent too many years shooting Tri-X pushed to ASA 800 plus. I am not as sensitive to noise as some. No noise reduction applied. Crop was about 50% of original frame, which with 45 MP, is usually plenty for such a small size image.
The bright underwing is caused by reflection off of the ice. It was a bright sunny day, but the sun was blocked by the trees in the background so the background was dark. The lighter areas in the background is snow.

Beautiful pose! Love the light on the speculum, but the lack of direct light (hence no catchlight) on the bird's face is a bummer.
Image is very noisy as others have observed.

excellent wing position and sharpness, noise is a bit visible but the main issue for me is lack of light on the head as Dorain mentioned and patches of dark/bright in the BG
