    I promise:D

20D and 400f5.6 will get the rest of the settings when I can get at them. FYI sq fur is often white tipped in winter, different sq same branch.

Very sharp details!! What lens did you use?

I really like the light coming through the tail and seeing the yellow color there too. And that you can even see some whiskers! Can you darken the black of its eye to make it stand out more and seem more shiny and bring out the contrast between the black and the light reflection you see in the eye? Is there a way to crop the original so the squirrel isn't quite so centered in the image? Very natural habitat image. I like it, even though it is of an animal which wrecks havoc in my yard! :)

    Nonda,
I've enjoyed looking at your squirell pics. I haven't commented because too many people had already "fixed" everything for you. I thought the original was lovely. :D
This one is VERY cute. It looks to be a youngster. I love squirrels. Of course I don't have any coming into my yard or anything.
Good job on the light coming through the tail. AND SHARP!!!! excellent job.

    Hello Nonda,

I have squirrels in my backyard but I have been unable to capture as good of an image as yours. Congratulations. I like the posing of the squirrel, especially the tail curving back up over the body and head. I like the sharpness and details. The back lighting adds some contrast to the picture. I also wondered about the placement of the subject in the frame. I tried a couple of different approaches but did not come up with anything better than your presentation. I will be interested in what others have to say. Was flash used?

    Nice capture.

Cheryl the lens is the 400f5.6L, really a wonderful lens. If you are having issues with the beasties shoot me an email or PM and I can probably help you out, its part of what I do:-) We have pretty massive landscape here so have pretty much have what floats their little boats figured out.

Thank you Sharna and good call it is a youngster!

Phil, I would need to dig the RAW out but I think that was about the best crop, I wasn't real swift at using the toggle back then to change the focus point, no flash

    Thanks folks

Nonda, If you have the RAW file, can you lighten the image a bit and still keep the details and sharpness?

Hi Nonda - another cute one - you are killing me :) I like how the tail is at the same angle as the branch on which he is sitting.

Looks a little dark on my screen - just needs to be a tad lighter - IMHO

    :)

A really cute image! I like the composition, the side lighting here works well also...very nice! I have to agree if you can bring up the brightness without over doing the back lit areas this would kick this one up another notch.

    Nice job!!!

Here tis..a bit lighter, just the sq,..Leave the tail alone Mr H:p

I doubt much, even if I owned a flash, it would get used for these pop out the side door images. I see them from the kitchen window and slither out the door quickly snapping the image..Don't want to distract the little beasties.
