    Default Canon 1200mm

First person to get a flight shot with the 1200mm and the new Canon 2x at 2400mm should get a big prize!
Only $20,000... PT Barnum was right...

Pretty odd that they would come out with such a niche lens when there are other lenses they could develop. 500mm f/4 anyone, or even 5.6? Oh well, there will be some takers, but at that price?? MFD is impressive for that focal length but sheesh, I only have 2 kidneys to help fund that thing. Would be cool to try out for fun though!

this lens has very limited application IMO being f/8 and 1200mm all the time. Instead canon should have focused improving the 2X TC on the existing 600 f/4 to match the Sony which is spectacular with the 2X and that would have negated the need for making a 1200mm f/8 prime. They had an old 800 f/5.6 too, it died quickly in 2012 when the 600 MKII came out. The back of the lens is awfully long and will be hard to HH. I might pay 20K but only for 600 f/4 that comes in a shorter shell for easier traveling and half the weight of the current 600 f/4's using DO or PF lightweight optics, not for this. maybe there is a market for it who knows....

Arash, if you see one, pick it up, you'll be surprised just how light it is.

it’s not any lighter than my 600 + 2X TC. In fact it’s heavier.
