A very nice more classic portrait of this beauty. Also enjoy the variable BG. TFS

I like the preening pose, and good eye contact. I am wondering what your settings were? You don't say. Wondering what your ISO was?

Overall i do like the image and the content , glad to see you were able to get that close . Super nice species ....

Not too fuzzed about your processing though , your NR has eliminated potential fine details in the feathers ..... not understandable when using Neat Image , IMHO . And the eye looks oversharp and too contrasty for me ... but hey we might see things differently .

Colors do look ok to me .

Andreas, there was no change to fine details due to NR, I always watch that closely as it happens, and often undo/redo just to be sure. Most likely a dof issue.
Anyway, dragging a near FF image down to 600kb and expecting fine details is a bit of an ask.
No eye work done either, that's critically sharp eye tracking at work, maybe I should have added noise there!

Thanks David. Kurt, forgot to post the settings, edited now but they were 1/1250 f6.3 iso1250.

Do not share your thoughts , can't see any DOF issue ... sorry .
Iso 1250 .... and using Neat Image for NR , no need to use ANY noise reduction at all , IMHO

Andreas, this is a screen crop from the RAW in ACR with no adjustments showing the noise that was removed.
Also note the patchy fine detail in the dark feathers which remains in my posted image.
It seems that there is a limit to resolution of detail in darker parts which I have wondered about previously.

I love the great look at the face but much of the BKGR is distracting. So I eliminated it with a square crop.

Have to agree with Andreas on the detail & in parts, that slight crunchy appearance Colin. At ISO1250 the file is usually super clean and noise to me is generally in the darks & shadows and comes to light if the file needs extensive opening up through poor exposure. Did you need to open up the the exposure? Prefer Artie's crop which does eliminate some of the distracting elements in the BKG.
