Unfortunately the SEO's headed back north the week before I received my Z9. :( This was taken with my D500. BIF is certainly easier with the Z9. I got what would have been some pretty good gray ghost images with the Z9 if the bird had arrived an hour and a half earlier...heavy shadows.
I probably have 20-30 images of similar quality to this one. I'm hoping they return to the same spot next year.

Would have loved to see what this file looked like with he Z9 Jack because with he D500, it looks sweet already! Love the sharp head, the warm light, the flight angle and position in the frame. Nicely done!

Jack it looks pretty good, colours and details pretty good perhaps the whites a little bright? I have not been able to get near "my" owls this time, people walk out onto the marsh and are just driving them away.

****, this is really sweet. Pose and lighting are equally lovely, and the intense stare really leaves us wondering what he has his gaze set on. It's a really effective head angle. Composition looks great. Smooth BG is killer. A really strong image. Well done, Jack!

Sweet!! Love the light, incoming flight path, and BG. Tough to tell from web-posting size, but maybe there is a bit of detail to extract from the white circle around the face. Not a deal-breaker, and an image of a species I still have nothing on...

I agree that this is a very excellent image. I am hearing that some focus are having to micro-adjust their Z9 bodies. Is that correct?
