    Default Cactus Wren

Last weekend I went to the desert to look for Sagebrush sparrows. While I couldn't find what I was looking for, I did find this Cactus Wren singing from a dead yucca flower stem. I chose to move a little off of sun angle to stand on a boulder to get a better shooting angle and better background (distant hill vs blue sky).
I removed a couple of dead stems on both sides of the bird. Processed with C1 Pro, PS CC and Topaz Denoise.

(uploading from Flickr again, because even 1600x1067 is larger than 600KB).
If you are using PS then change the Optimised amount (with Save for Web Legacy) to a lower figure ie 595KB to 585KB to bring it under 600KB

Hi Sharif .. no color profile embedded in the file . You need to check the box in the " save for web " command

Sorry about that. I have replaced the photo with one that has color profile embedded.

Beautiful capture Sharif. Processed very well and like the background colors. Wish for better perch. Nice and sharp and open bill is a plus. TFS

Hi Sharif .... this looks better in my book , as I felt the other one carried some slight blue cast in the in mid tones to the HL .

Very nice image , has everything that it needs ... nice pose and the calling is adding content . Super smooth BG still carrying some variation , which I like better than a plain BG . Nice details and sharp where it needs to be ...
Personally I would try to burn the lighter tones a fraction as I think there might be more detail to coax out , and I do see a vertical comp as an alternative that might look good as well . Just a thought .

    Nice work and TFS Andreas

Nice image I like the composition. I would also agree regards the highlights. My PC tells me you have embedded Adobe RGB not sRGB profile.

I think the exposure looks fine, but i might bump the blacks for a touch of contrast (more personal preference than anything else though). Perch and pose look good, and I agree that the softly-dappled BG is great. The bird is very upright, so I am curious how this would look as a vertical. I tend not to mix-and-match vertical subjects with horizontal crops (and vice versa).

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Here is a vertical crop. I selectively did linear burn on the bright eyebrow and boosted the blacks.

I like the repost better than the OP and I too wish for a better perch. Good move on getting higher.
