Default Young Boy on the move ...

Hi folks this young Lion boy got scared by an Elephant chasing the pride in Nxai Pan NP of Botswana .

I was and am a bit unsure how I see the file .... correctly exposed with lots of detail , or going darker into the backlit direction .
Didn't trust myself , so I kept it halfway ... correct and halfway backlit . I am still undecided ...... you might help me out .

    Canon EOS 1Dx II

Thanks for looking and commenting to my previous thread

    Hello Andreas,

Very cute youngster and he already has a bit of a mane, a little punk Probably naughty too...

Well seen and taken, well framed, good exposure on the subject. I would love to see a version where you 'go darker in the backlit direction', you might end up with a more 'dramatic' look and feel.

Love that dust / sand flying and the sense of urgency/ movement - pretty cool frame, well done!!!

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

I like the dark one better I find it much more eye catching/dramatic. It is more than a silhouette and it is not washed out trying to retrieve detail, I think this is a super shot..... just look at the dust coming from those paws!!

Agree with you, perhaps you've gone a bit far Andreas, but I still prefer the RP. Maybe I just love lots of drama, LOL

If I were to print I would go for the RP Second thought...how about going a tad lighter...just a tad?

Sure, no worries. You could be right. I like them both anyway

A superb frame Andreas, I love the low perspective and the creative lighting. The action in the dust adds a lot as well.

I'm sure there are numerous ways this could be presented, but I love dramatic back lighting, so the RP is closer to how I would have edited it - I just think you've gone a little too dark.

Lighting over ultimate detail wins nearly every time in my book

    Mike
