Just trying to maximise images from the encounter with the Juvenile. This time going tight in after waiting for it to stay still for a moment.

Very limited DOF butI feel it works to good effect. Colours and details spot on. Nothing wrong with the eye but I have come to expect some detail within the iris from you.

Love the detail on this Steve nice image and the colors on the iris and around the eye make this one for me. Great background goes well with the bird. TFS

Hi Steve, great portrait with stunning details. I like the feather on the tip of the bill and traces of blood at the base. Makes the frame very dynamic. There's enough DOF to make the entire head sharp. My only wish is that the head was turned couple of degrees toward the camera. But that's just a personal taste. Thanks for sharing!

Ditto Sharif. The feathers, blood, and wet breast feathers tell a story, which is excellent for a tight portrait like this.

Hi Steve ... killer portrait !!!
Love that eye and the technical execution in post . Superb tonal and color rendering in the plumage .
Just wish for more DOF ... always amazing how narrow the DOF is when shooting in close range with the BIG WHITE .

    Super nice work

    TFS Andreas

A fraction perhaps Andreas, but the eye (which is key) is razor sharp, but if the light was on my side and swopped out to the R5, f7.1 ISO100 (not ISO6400) ou la la...

I'd lose a bit of the OOF bit of the bird at right and give the bird more space at left. The short side of the frame is a bit too short as it. Give us some more space to imagine what he's looking at. Processing looks great. Being so close helps too!

Beautiful portrait. Love the way the subject fills the frame. Great IQ. For me DoF is just about right, superb detail and clarity where it matters, the eye is stunning. Your images never disappoint

    Warmest regards,
