Struggling with garden visitors, this was my best effort after a few hours in my hide today, I tidied up a few specks here and there and the image is cropped.

I like everything about this -- lighting, pose, detail, perch -- except the crop. I could see moving the bird a bit to the right, and I'd get rid of the empty space at the top to bring the crop into 1.5 X 1 format. Frame feels bottom heavy as presented. But otherwise very nice!

Sweet & simple Jon, with a clean backdrop.

    Kill the blue
Crop proportion as is, just pull down from top RHC to evict the light area of log bottom right, RoTs the beak will then be on the line eye above, cool
    More oomph in that moss
A tad more clarity/contarst for the log to emphasis it being wet, but DON"T clog the shadows
Think having the foot nearest you sharp would be nice as everything else is, it's just there and no more, perhaps f/7.1

Hi Jon, the image works for me, no nits. The perch, the bird, the background all nice and work together. Thank you for sharing.

I like the idea of cropping a bit form the top, but otherwise all looks great t me here. Sweet subject on a nice perch against a good BG...you got all the ingredients!
