    Default Baird's Sandpiper (Chile)

This tiny bird is amazing; it nests in the Arctic and migrates as far south as Tierra del Fuego in the winter.

If viewed full size, the image on your monitor is larger than the bird in real-life!

The thin shadow on the breast isn't ideal, but I had to go low to position the bird above the breaking waves (white) in the BG.

Went down to f/11 to maximize DOF across the mussels.

Very nice Dorian, the mussEls gives the image context and it's all natural too. I also like the way the mussels and barnacles slope off to the right, again naturally. The whites on the chest look/appear just on the cusp, but.. however it's the white HL in the blue of the backdrop that just draws the eye, blowing in some colour I feel would help, but your call. You can do it, so it's not a solid colour and the areas 'peaks' through ever so slightly, so it doesn't become sterile. Nice one.

Superb image Dorian. I can see a version without the oof HL that Steve refers to here, and not impossible to achieve in PS, but it certainly isn't a deal breaker here. Love the colours in the foreground and the overall composition.

Neat to see this species in SA. Any ideas if it is a worn juvie? I could also do without the upper oval of what I presume is a breaking wave in the BKGR.

Also love the perch, detail and light! The breaking waves don't bother me much.

Dorian, a very nice view of this Piper, but really unique with all the barnacles.

Nicely processed in terms of tones and sharpness.

I could see a pano version with more off the bottom. The wave takes a way slightly in one regard, but man, not really able to fault you on this one.

    Nicely executed, tfs!

Ditto on the larger white oof area, but man the rest of the image is just super. Excellent IQ, and stopping down to f/11 gave it tat extra depth for the "perch".
