    Default Ornate Tinamou (Chile)

The 46 species of tinamous range from Mexico to Chile. They are hella shy/secretive, and any capture is cause for celebration.

This is the Ornate variety. It ranges through the Peruvian, Bolivian, Argentinian, and Chilean Andes, this individual observed near 14,000'
in northern Chile. We initially spotted the roadside bird while driving at high speed, so we came to a screeching halt, put my wife behind the wheel,
and doubled-back for a better view. Knowing the wary bird would vanish if I tried to exist the vehicle, I snapped this frame out the passenger
side window. The angle isn't as low as I'd like, but it's an f'ing tinamou for christ's sake. When I tried to get out of the car to get that lower
angle a moment after capturing this frame, the bird spooked for good. It was an amazing encounter while it lasted.

Things we do to get the shot...lol. Congrats on a superb image here. Love the detail in the plumage and overall sharpness and colours. A little more head turn is my only nit here...but in the circumstances you must be stoked to get this image. Hope you didn't damage the tyres on the car when you hit those brakes Cheers.

Hi Dorian .... these Tinamus are fancy characters , at least in captivity

Overall nice image and I do really like the yellow grass patches , breaking the uniform BG .... looking more lively rather than the super smooth " artificially " looking .
Color and tones looking good and I do like the pattern in the subject .
When I read your intro ... I felt like if would drive through an African NP ....
