Took a drive out to see what the state of play was with the local Grouse, as the season had kicked in and it's only a 45 min drive, so it was nice to see they were around, including this wee fellow playing 'hide & seek' in the heather. The light was just ridiculous!!!!

First look at the image made me smile. I like it, the head and neck appearing above the vegetation. Thank you for sharing, Steve.

Hi Steve, I like the peeking head and smooth background. The slightly taller grasses frame the head very nicely. If mine, I would be tempted to remove the two oof blades on either side of the head. Great image!

Pretty amazing detail, it almost looks 3D, colours tones and details first class.

I love this frame; it combines a headshot and a small-in-frame perfectly. The lighting and specular highlights are awesome. I hardly notice (and don't mind) the blades Sharif mentions. A really super image.

Thanks folks, avoiding hefty cropping will help retain good IQ and detail.

Hi Steve ... love the color palette popping out of the yellow /orange ocean of tones .
Subject looks very good in terms of details and tones .
Personally I would reduce the blue/cyan of the white throat ... too strong for my taste .

Everything else is very well done .
