I like the bird but the sky is bland. I did make a version with a substituted sky.... but who am I kidding?

Hi Jon ... really cool and lovely shot of the Stonechat .
Tone , color and detail are right on the dot ... well done on the processing front . The warm light gave you some nice colors .....

I agree, this is a really nice frame Jon! Looks like you nailed this in camera and on the processing front. Great job!

You were right to push the sky Jon, perhaps a tad steep on the shooting angle????

Hi Jon, neat little bird. I think the bird looks great but am surprised how fast the focus falls off on the perch. I agree with Steve regarding the shooting angle but I have been there and done that. Thanks for sharing.

Jo - focal length 1200mm = shallow DOF, I agree regards angle but this was the best I could get.

Nice sharp view of this guy, Jon. Eye contact is great, and I love the detail on the feet/claws. I agree with Steve re: the slightly-too-steep shooting angle. I also think the unusual crop is a bit wonky. I think a standard 1.5 x 1 would get right of some of the empty space at the top and put more emphasis on the attractive subject.
