You may recognize this immature Broadbill Hummer from a few months ago. It is a different image in the series and I was impressed by the frozen wing detail.

I definitely recognize this guy Brian! Great pose, love the wings and the tiny pollen specs on the bill.

Exquisite, excellent details and colours, pose etc almost perfect. For me however it makes me thinks so perfect it is an unlikely scenario, as with some of my BOAS images nice but looks like a set up and not quite natural. I am reconsidering my approach to bird portraits in order to make them appear a little more natural/credible. I think a hint of texture or variation in colour in the background would help???

The frozen wings suggest multiflash, so you did really well on that front. Love the colors and details, and I think the composition is perfect. It's obviously heavily set-up, but I don't think you could have executed better in the field or in the computer.

I figured no flash. Super-sharp. May we assume, however, that you somehow set up the flowers? Did you use sugar water?
