    So, what do you do when it is -32C outside but there is a Northern Hawk Owl a two-minute drive (then a 5 minute walk) from home? Well, you head out to see it!! This one was perched fairly low on an ugly tree, but it took off...flew about 300 feet and plunged to the ground to pluck a vole from under the snow. It never gets old....

    Canon R6 + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC III, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/2000s., f/8, ISO 1600, natural light, handheld, cropped for composition, contrast and saturation to taste.

    Hi Daniel, cannot see a way to improve the image. Love the image, a bird I have not seen before. Thank you for sharing.

    Daniel:

    Excellent dorsal display, well exposed, clouds add interest to background, nice comp. Does make me cold to think about it, but I suspect you have spent a bit of time with this one!
