Really nice exposure on the this black feathered bird. Never seen one before so I don't know it's habits, but assume if it's feeding on the ground, getting a shot perched is probably a big challenge. Good sharpness as well on this Jon.

Great view of this guy, even if the ground doesn't make for the most photogenic setting. Exposure is perfect, and the bird is sharp from one end to the other. I'm a sucker for feet, and the raised leg here looks great. A very nice image....

A lower angle would definitely have been to your advantage here, but I realize maybe not possible at the time. I like the intent on this individual's face. Some of the dark twigs in front of the bill could be eliminated for a cleaner space there.

Nice control of the darks with good detail Jon. I'm pretty sure I know what you are doing within the workflow to achieve this result based on the very high ISO for the Olympus, but it works, well done.

You are absolutely right! Something I did a lot with Canon 1DX and 5D IV, I thought I had been doing it with Olympus but I hadn't. I have reconfigured my camera and as with Canon I now set SS and Aperture and I do not look at ISO, I look at exposure, I have been getting workable results up to ISO 25,600 but I am not going to pretend they are as good as Canon full frame at that ISO.
