Hi Joe .... nice clean portrait with a pleasing BG .
The flat light obviously helped with control of light and dark tones .... as I think this species is somewhat hard to control the tones .

Nice one and TFS , Andreas

We were in Florida all last year and I wanted a really good shot of one of these wood ducks so bad, but got nothing that I really liked. But you did good, beautiful bird

Nice close look at this stunning bird. Exposure looks great, but the face is showing some noise. I'm also curious about the catchlight dead center in the eye. It almost looks like a flash since it's below the horizon. Regardless of what it is -- and odd reflection, maybe -- I'd clone it out. I'd also move the bird a tad left to generate some asymmetry and have him looking into the wider side of the frame.

Love the colours on this species of duck. The first thing I did notice was the noise on the duck's face, but overall a very nice portrait. Yes to having the bird more to the left. TFS
