Hi folks .... a happy new year to all of you .
Starting into the new year with a fresh shot from yesterday , taken at local town lake .

Image shows a Great Crested Grebe that started flying all of a sudden to chase some other birds out of the frame .
Had to play some trickery to clean up the image and add canvas to RHS to avoid the Grebe banging into the RHS . Cropped for comp

Great action - it's always nice to see those widely-lobed feet! Lighting and splash are wonderful, but the image isn't perfectly crisp to my eye. I also think the blacks look a bit thin, but that's probably a result of the revealed detail. That's
more stylistic than anything else though. I wouldn't have noticed the added canvas without your mention, but it's easy to see once you directed our eyes in that direction.

Great action and pose, love the water splash. The extended canvas looks OK unless deliberately looking to find "fault". The only slight bug I have is that the eye looks very prominent, probably just the light but I wonder if you have brightened or saturated it it a tad?

Hey BD I've always wanted to shoot this species. That head gear is so cool.

I've seen some sweet diving images of this Grebe but not as many running like this. The way you composed it works well.

I like the way you brought out the colors and I can also see how you made the head and foot pop from the rest. Cool effect!

Not much I'd change, well done amigo!
