I've just returned from a month in Chile with my wife. It was a fantastic trip, and I can't wait to return in the future. The birds and wildlife were
great, but the scenery is absolutely spectacular. We visited 4 distinct areas from the Peruvian/Bolivian border all the way south to Tierra del Fuego.
Photographing in new/foreign places is a huge challenge because I have little time to learn the behaviors, lighting, and terrain, but I'm very happy
to have walked away with a number of nice frames. I'll be sharing them over the coming weeks, and I'll do my best to post some background/
supplementary images and information to orient you as I present shots from around the country.

This tiny Hooded Siskin was photographed in the tiny town of Putre at 11,000 feet of elevation, very close to the Peruvian and Bolivian borders. We
were the only gringos in town. It was wonderful.

Canon 600mm f/4 IS II + 1.4x III on EOS R5
1/1250 at f/5.6, ISO 1600. Processed in LR CC with a very light pass through Topaz NR. Cloned a few stray leaves at bottom. I would have liked
to include more of the perch, but it got really messy below this bit.

Pleasing pose and head turn, well shot and no need for more perch IMO.
A bit of a search suggests there are variations with some having a completely black head and others like this one with a yellow nape.

Dorian, a trip to be envied for certain. Thank you for the back story and complimentary photos.

This handsome fella very much resembles the American Goldfinches eh!? Sort of a blend between the American and Lesser.

That said, very fine capture. Even though there is a bit of oof foliage still a lovely perch. Wonderful even light and great pose. There is much peace in the eye of this subject.

Perhaps it could stand a touch more room above but I also do love tight crops when possible so nice as is too.

Nice portrait style image, did you take similar with smaller in the frame to show the environment, I appreciate on this particular perch impractical.
