This one is in response to Daniel's fun post. Taken a few days ago. I was struck by the neck position in relation ship to the wings. Must be one of the 'long neck' variants of the mallard family. Plus some really orange feet showing.

Hi Randy ... is it mallard time right now ??
    I would say a " classical shot " .... very well executed .
All does work well .... I would personally move the subject to the left for a more " balanced off centre " composition .

    Nonetheless a cool shot

    Andreas:

Thanks for your input. Did look several times at the crop before posting. You are correct.

Hi Randy, this one is quite humorous. He really 'stuck his neck out for ya' ;-)

'Tis a fun frame in a quintessential Mallard landing pose. I like the pano choice here but do vote for a slight bit more offset.

The iridescence is sweet and nice and sharp. The orientation of the wake in the bkg make it feel a bit funky on rotation but trust the overall composition based on the pose.

    Glad you shared.

I love it too. If it were mine, I would have gone 3X2 with the bird back in the frame as susggested by several. The only thing about the post that bugs me is that the birds head is angled ever-so-slightly away.

with love and have a great 2022.

Great pose on the subject! I agree about moving it more left though. Funny thing is, I also have a recent Mallard hen landing I almost posted. I will wait on mine now. LOL

Funny seeing these one after another. Love the pose and the way that green head shines.

Quite the similar pose indeed! Funny to see the two thumbnails one above the other on the forum's page. Apart from moving it a bit more to the left I like everything else about it. You got more colour with the sunshine plus the visible feet

This is really sweet. I don't have a decent Mallard shot in my collection, so I'm envious of this result. Pose and lighting are killer, but the dangling orange feet take the cake!
