Default Squirrel running and jumping ...

Hi folks ... trying to get the Squirrels while they are running at me .
Can tell you that is very difficult , at least for me , even if using the latest Canon gear as far as camera goes .
The R3 is struggling to acquire focus and lock on when these little critters start to run , and for sure the operator also playing a roll in that game .
More than 80 % of the frames are more or less out of focus , sometimes drastically .
The bad light might also play a role .... and maybe my AF configuration , well who knows exactly .
I am kinda disappointed about the new toy , maybe I expected too much as these little critters are not easy to track when they move around the undergrowth . But even on a flat track in the park ... the AF is struggling .
Well will need more time and more practice to get better results , I guess .

Getting used to a new camera takes patience and research, the result here looks fine. I don't know what new lenses are available but I assume the 200-400 was originally designed for an SLR not mirrrorless, it may be compatible but is it ideal - I don't know - just a consideration. Technology marches on and the pocket becomes increasingly depleted.

A fine action image Andreas. I can imaging how hard it must be to track these little creatures. I love the low angle and the running pose. Colours look good and the DOF is also fine. Well done and keep learning the new body and its AF system.

Hi Andreas -- I liked the pastel colours and the low pov and your excellent timing makes the image for me. I do think that the subject must be camouflaging a lot with the leaves as both appear to be of similar colour and hence a lot of mis-focusing ? Either way more practice can lead to better results .

    A fine image nonetheless .

    TFS !
