Image captured in Kruger National Game Park. I may have submitted this or something previously similar but I thought I would have another attempt with some fresh ideas.

I suspect your eyes will be drawn to the periphery of the Grysbok, there was a soft fuzzy edge which you may assume is sloppy masking but it isn't I am pleased to say! I can only guess it was due to DOF effect. As you will see the lighting was tricky so I have tried to show the subject to the best effect and minimise the strongly lit background.

Beautiful subject with nice head turn to see that eye, rich colours and placement of the subject. The tricky dappled light in the BG and tree trunk is not ideal but you did well with the exposure.

Hi Jon ... very nice job of controlling the difficult lighting situation , very well done .
The tree in the BG is just so cool and the greenery as a contrast is working well .
Wondering if the subject has the same coloring as the twigs and branches in real life ????
Details and sharpness are looking right on the money to me .... posing is good and great to see that the buck looks relaxed albeit you have been quite close .

    Nice work Jon .

Thanks Sanjeev and Andreas, glad you thought OK. For what it's worth I am finding the new masking features in ACR/LR very useful.

Hi Jon -- I think you have done very well given the lighting conditions. The subject has some very good details and that tree adds to the scene. I feel its a bit tight at the bottom, a slight stretch of canvas might help if no more space in the original capture.

Is this an old file ? coz i think you have now shifted to mirorrless ?

    Nice image, TFS !

Thanks Haseeb, I agree it is a bit tight at the base, it's a common fault of mine! Yes it's an old file, I went mirrorless in 2019.

Though lighting conditions. You handled it well though. I do like the pose. Wish for a more left to right composition.
