OK, just picking up from Dan C's posting and high ISO. I wouldn't normally have posted this, purely because it's not a great image and the berries are just too contrived, but this was shot at ISO 10k.

Thanks to those who commented or viewed the last posting.

Steve, I don't understand what mean when you said you are "picking up", any how the Bullfinch looks fine colours and details excellent...... ISO 10000 is no big deal for these later Canon cameras especially in good hands, but as you pointed out the berries look a little contrived and the perch is a bit massive.

Thanks Jon, ‘picking up’, probably ‘following on’ might have been better, but in relation to high ISO. Personally I don’t think the the top part of the gate is massive. Re berries, just felt the corner was empty. No great deal about the image, just saying you can achieve images with detail at ISO’s most folk shy away from.

Thanks Volkan, don’t let capturing an image pass you by, you can push the ISO comfortably.

Hi Steve .... the Bullfinch is lovely rendered and the rest is beautifully processed as well .
At least it gave you a good training image on the Iso front ... ... but to follow Daniel , you are too low with your Iso values , LOL. It was an easy task .... with 10k instead of 52k

One of my favorite birds around here ... but hard to get .

Why do we not see a lot of avian images in this Iso range .... ..... there must be a reason

Indeed, but slowly slowly perhaps, 52k is perhaps way too high, but a much lower one might just coax folk to try and help nail the image in tougher times?????

Just wanted to pull your legs .... cannot be the goal to shoot at these high Iso values , but always good to explore and see what is possible with todays software and cameras .

Detail looks great for 10K. Berries would be 'contrived' as you say if we could see a bit more branch, ideally in place of the fence. But it's still a very nice image of a really beautiful bird. Looks angry with you!

The bird looks real good Steve....colours spot on....I like the pose and the head turn.....Imagine the finch on a mossy perch .....I don't think I will ever get to near that ISO with the Mk2....for the time being 4,000 I now feel comfortable with......

    Will
