A new location and an Australasian Grebe chick (my first one). This one looks like it's been through the washing machine and ready for a tumble dry Basic adjustments in acr and ps. Cheers.

Nicely detailed, I would suggest lowering the brightness a Tad and increasing contrast a little and possibly reduce sharpening a little also.

Lol at the washing machine comment Paul! I agree with Jon, and I also feel the subject is a bit big in the frame. Good details, nice blues, and the open bill is bonus.

Jonathan: Thank you. Not sure about increasing the contrast though...it looks quite contrasty on my monitor, but yes to lowering the brightness a tad. The only sharpening was via Topaz denoise, but in hindsight I probably didn't need to use it.
Daniel: Thank you. Yes to big in the frame, but I'm ok with it as is. The original raw file had the bird quite close to the left edge, and after applying some rotation to straighten the bird it was even closer. I could have added canvas or used the content aware scale in PS, but decided to leave it. I may re process based on Jonathan and your suggestions.

Well captured Paul....I also think it needs a slight reduction in brightness....it looks a wee bit bright on my monitor....Nice HA and the feather details are awesome...

    Well done

Excellent details - the wet view makes for a unique frame. Brightness noted, and I'd love a bit more space behind and below if you have it. Might darken the eye a bit as well.

Thank Will and Dorian...appreciate the comments.
Dorian: Unfortunately not more below, but as stated previously there was a little bit more on the left, but after rotation it was lost. I will go back and add more canvas to left and bottom and check the results. Funny...I actually brightened the eye a tiny bit

Hi Paul ... nice funky looking Grebe chick .
Light might have not been the most pleasing one ... but you managed to get something halfway decent , IMHO.

With some more gentle tweaks it could be look even better , but not just plain contrast .

Personally not too excited about the " Topaz signs " .... gives quite a grainy look .
