    Default American Avocet

Man, it's been a good week for me here in SoCal!

    - went with f/4 even in great light so as to smooth out the canvas
    - I know he/she is a wee bit tight in the frame, but I was anticipating the smaller Greater Yellowlegs. The crouched pose was only way I was gonna get entire bird and reflection!

Canon 600mm f/4 IS II on EOS R5
    1/4000 at f/4, ISO 400
Processed in LR CC. Cloned 4-5 very small irregularities on water's surface.

Stunning image Dorian. Perfect pose, reflection, low view and BG. The water droplet bouncing off the water on the right takes it (as they say) "over the top".

That's a beauty Dorian, I like it as is, lovely detail, I especially like the leg and yes agreed the water droplet makes it that little bit special.

Looks good man! That water drop is just too cool. I'm wondering if you could go even warmer (or more saturation)? Nonetheless, this is rather appealing. Glad you're having a great week!

Hi Dorian ... wonderful overall !!

I think I would like to boost the colors in the water !!!! Looks too much " tone in tone " .... for such a nice frame , IMHO.

Hi Dorian, much prefer this to the previous, but agree with the others re tone/sat.

Lovely frame Dorian.....only thing I would change is what Andreas suggested, and I notice you agree....

    Very well captured.

Dorian, yeah man it's sweet. Your comment on the size in frame is noted, but not a deal breaker.

Again, the pose captured rocks and adding the droplet splash takes it up. Sweet all around, makes me stoked for spring when our Avocets show up again!
