Hi folks: Took a drive up to Mount Hopkins so Gina could hike up the road about 3 miles and back from the Whipple Visitor's Center on the way to the Whipple Observatory for a practice hike. On the way down we saw this Turkey Vulture from about 150 feet, Gina stalked him taking a photo about every ten feet until she got this photo from about 50' then he took off . . . The only bird we saw Tuesday. :( . . . . Gus :) `n Gina ~ Tai Chi expert for outstanding balace & steadiness ~ My Hero! :D

First Gina is one steady and strong person - 600mm lens at 1/160sec and the image is sharp, sharp, sharp!!! Amazing
It is also amazing that you got that close. I am very happy with the bird itself - sharp, ha is decent.
To be this close makes you want more though.
I really wish the bg was less distracting and I wish the bird were a tad lighter.
Congrats on the capture.

I played around with the image a bit. I am not skilled enough with Photoshop Elements to really do a good job. I think the bird and its perch need to stand out from the background. I sort of came close by sharpening and lightening the bird and perch, and blurring and toning down the color and color intensity in the background.
I sure one of the PS whizzes will be able to really give this image a boast.
Congrats again
Gail
lance did a good job, but it's still busy and the head angle could be better too. 600mm handheld, congrats!! wow, that's steady cause the bird is really sharp. does anyone see a bluish cast in the feathers or is it just me?
I like the re post a lot Hit on all needed improvements About the only other thing you could do is blur the bg but just a tad to make realistic.
Sure wish the bird was looking your way a bit more .... did you get some in the air? .....don't let that lens fool you Lots of magnification there with the camera crop factor !!!!
