Too central for me Jon, less to the LHS, more to the right to look into, plus a hit more at the foot.
I meant to add, lovely detail, really like the plumage and the beady eye looking out.

Agreed a little central but this was the best I could do under the circumstances.

OK, but would you consider adding canvas????

I did on one version but wasn't happy, also I wanted to stay as near as possible to the truth.

Jon, I really like the intimacy of this frame.
Pretty nice light angle and the view of the eye is great. Really nice detail in the feather plumage.
I did not check, but this feels on the blue side to my eyes, perhaps even some green. Might be worth playing to see if a little warmth lifts it.
Might suggest that you play around with different crops in order to give more to the right. Drag the upper left some and see how it works. Maybe even a candidate for 4x5, not sure but worth trying IMO.

Curious: what prevented you from pointing the lens to our left??? Had yo done that you could have included the complete shadow caused by the off-angled light.

Artie, there were other birds in an awkward configuration looking out to the left.
