    As this guzzler stayed for a few seconds tried moving left but then partially blocked the late sun with totally clear horizon.

    David these flowers are offering plenty of opportunities, I really like the way half the head is in the flower, the nectar must be just about within his reach. The focus appears to have just missed the bee's eye, the DOF appears to include the wing and much of the flower. I know it can be frustrating to have gotten so close and just missed one tiny area, have you tried AI Focus - I don't know if it would identify the bees eye or not?? Colours look good, if inclined you could consider a little colour blending in the background to avoid the contrasting colours.
