Default Cattle Egret - beeding plumage

This very common globally distributed bird offered me an unusual angle and pose recently (with the wind helping quite a bit :) )

    Cattle Egret - Breeding plumage

    D300, AFS 600mm f4, 1.4 TC on a Kirk Window Mount
1/4000s f/8.0 at 850.0mm ISO 800 (whoops! forgot to step down the ISO as the sun came up!)

    C&C quite welcome!

Common... Perhaps... But the cattle egrets here (Dallas, TX) don't have near that much orange in their breeding plumage. He's gorgeous!

The pose, the light the BG all look great to me. There is one little white spot just under his bill that draws my attention away.

Excellent exposure and wonderful detail. I have never seen one that orange. It is gorgeous. I also like the swept look of the back feathers. Lovely image and thanks for sharing.

Very nice image of a common bird, Chien! I like the little crest he has on his head. :)

Beautiful lines and colors. I like the crop very well and I am drawn right to the eye, which is spot on. The bg is very nice as well. there isn't anything I can see that I don't like.

    I like - Common Bird - Bloody **** - I am moving there.

Dont get too many cattle egrets in my area- used to - but not for a long time now.

I would remove teh white spot under the bill.

    Well done :)

Thank you all for the postive feedback. I guess we take for granted what is usual and mundane sometimes. The population variant here does seem to blush to a stronger shade of orange during breeding season (which seems to be all year round now with the weather going bonkers).

    Chien,
This bird is amazing. I've never seen one of these in the colors here. Egrets are common here but not Cattle Egrets. I live in the desert where nothing stays for very long. LOL

The colors are amazing. Your whites truely are magnificent here. This is sharp and wonderfully composed.

    Well done.
