It had been a couple of years since I'd seen and photographed this species, so it was a joy for me to encounter two of them (on separate days, in separate locations) this fall. This one was photographed near a boat launch along the river, and when one boat made its approach for landing, the plover walked away form the shore and crossed some rather appealing habitat along the way. As you can see, this was on solid rocky ground, therefore I was about the driest and cleanest I could be for crawling along for shorebirds!
