Default Wood Duck - A Rainbow of Grace

Had an absolute blast shooting wood ducks for the first time ever down in Santa Cruz. Will definitely be heading back. Will post a few from today but this is an early favorite.

Nice wing position Jay. Like the iridescence on the head showing off those beautiful colors.

Solid background for this subject. Overall well shot!

    Jay:

As someone who has shot a lot of wood duck images, congrats, as this isn't an easy image to get everything right on. Agree with comments from the others. Only thing I might try is a version a few degrees warmer on the color temp, just personal taste.

    Well done!

Great flight pose Jay! Shot many of these and agree it's not an easy frame to get, so well done. Maybe I am the only one, but I feel it is a bit forward or centered in the frame. Do you have any more room in front? If you do, I might have cropped it with more room in front and subject a tad more the the left. Stiill it's a great frame. Nice work!

Good stuff on this beautiful duck! Nice BG, good pose overall. I agree with Kurt re: comp. I would also remove the few water drops behind as there are not enough to make them worth keeping IMO. These guys a re just about looking prime up here - I'm thinking a visit to the local spots these guys are found in is just the ticket soon!
