I like the composition and the pose of the buck. I get the impression the colour balance is not quite there being perhaps a little on the yellow side. The sharpening is a little too strong some hairs are becoming a little refractile e.g. the ears.

I think this is much better John.

You did well with the techs and goes to show the 1DX MKIII is awesome. Framing is also better, but because it's quite tight on the sides, you need less above. Colours are a fraction off, not by far, just needs a bit more in the Temp & Tint ie +5/+6. The greens need addressing to bring some more depth, coupled with a Curves adjustment and it starts to take on more of a presence.

Just my take on the laptop for direction.

    Hello John,

I like this frame a lot and pose works so well! Subject pops so nicely through all that vegetation, and has a 'here I am ' look about him, or rather 'catch me if you can'

Love those ears slightly pointing forwards, gorgeous rack, shiny eyes. Steve's repost has lots of oomph and is more balanced in terms of colour as well as composition. You seem to always leave too much at the top, John - afraid of pixel bashing?
Subject sharp from nose to ears, good techs, IQ looks great. Nice one

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea
