American Avocet in a bit of a more unorthodox frame. Taken at first light.

I composed this intentionally as shown to capture the landscape as well; very slight crop. Good sometimes to deviate from the norm...

    R5
    600mm
    Handheld
    ISO 3200
    1/500
    f4

LR and PS, nothing cloned or evicted.

A beautiful elegant image, I really enjoy looing at the colours, good details in the darks and whites.
I am curious the 600mm lens - was that designed for the SLR series camera or the mirrorless, either way I like the result.

I love everything about this image.
The colors are glorious, the crop and subject placement are excellent and IQ and Bird rock. No nits from me.
    A beautiful frame Brian.

Hi Brian, how do you find these backgrounds that compliment the bird so well? Lovely image, at first I thought the vertical crop was kind of unorthodox but as I look more it is growing on me. Lovely image thank you for sharing.

    Thanks a bunch Jon!

Yes, this is the EF 600mm IS iii (the latest version), which was designed to work with the SLR bodies, versus the new RF, which has the mirrorless mount. As I understand, they are virtually identical sans the mount, however they may offer some firmware at some point that allows better performance with the R (mirrorless) bodies. Who knows.

Thanks for the comments Joe! You know, I can't say I'm always good enough to try to align the two; it's mostly a matter of where the species are and how I can position to get a clean/colorful backdrop, which is usually the primary goal :-)

I like the color Palette indeed, I think this looks better in a print than does on the screen
