I know the rock perch isn't ideal, but this species pretty much lives on the ground foraging, so I was happy to get something out in the open after having tried for multiple days to even get a shot of one without a lot of ground vegetation. This was from early summer.

A beautiful looking bird. I don't mind the perch. Nice background.

Kurt, congrats on getting this one.

I don't mind the perch at all, personally. The spots are slightly distracting but I've seen a lot worse.

Love the earthy, desert-y bkg. Very sharp. You might evict that smaller, second catchlight.

Would love to shoot one myself. Tfs.

I am not sure if I can add any constructive critique, I have not seen one of these birds but for what it's worth I get the impression the subject is a rather dark/heavy (???)

What a cool-looking bird this is! I love the colours. The perch is not that bad really, and the BG is perfect. Good call on the vertical comp. I was gonna suggest removing the second catchlight, but Brian already has.
