Hi all. I took this imagen from the window of a granary in Extremadura (Western Spain). The bird was positioned under the shadow of the building and the BG was strongly iluminated by the sunlight and I was not very sure about how to proced with the exposure. When I opened the NEF file in PS i decided to overexpose two stops and to try a high-key image but I am not sure about the result. I would love to hear your critics about this one :)

I like the high-key idea, but I think the bird is still a little dark relative to the BG.

I like the idea, composition and details. I'm wondering about the dark spot in the lower right corner.

I didn´t notice that oof spot Axel and that is the reason why I cropped the bottom. Is part of an OOF branch from the nest, dark, ugly and not very easy to clone out... well I was very lazy to clone out :o

    Juan,

Played with this a bit enhancing the high key affect to brighten the bird.

    1) Curves adjustment with the curve pulled at the mid-point up and left. THis brightens the whole image.
    2) Local contrast enhancement on BG copy using USM at 30/10/0.
    3) Shadow/Highlight on BG copy to open up the blacks the LCE/USM in 2 made too dark.
    4) Hue/Saturation adjustment to desaturate the bill.

Nice repost Robert !! Beautiful image Juan and I love the sharp , clear eye contact in this capture. Very nice exposure with lots of detail. I like this a lot. Thanks for sharing Juan.

Juan-nice shot. I actually rather like the original , the repost is just a tad too bright for me. I like the slight offwhite tones the image has. Agree with Axel about the dark spot in the bottom right.

Guys and gal thanks a lot for your comments. Robert I like your repost because closely resembles what I had on mind when processed this file for a hig key result. Thanks for the detailed information. I am going to play more with this file and I will try to apply the same steps that you suggested.;)
