This is the same kestrel but in a different pose and slightly different light. I made a 5:4 crop as suggested.

Jon, another sweet one. Just about perfect pose and nice to have the whole bird parallel to the lens.

I could only recommend the slightly dodging (however you choose) around the eye as it is just a touch dark compared to the crown and bridge of the beak.

Also, I am remiss; seeing your comment about this being 4x5, my reaction was that it should be 5x7. Then going back to the previous post I realized I skipped 5x7 in my subconscious mind and suggested a 4x5.

That said, I do feel 5x7 would be the ticket here - just a touch more top and bottom. Sorry for the inconsistent comments.

I kind of like this one more. The sleek pose is nice. Nice view of the tail.

This is really nice! I'm not a fan of flight light, but there's just enough color on the bird and in the BG to make this work. Super sharp, and I like the little foot peeking out. You cold throw a bit more light on the face as Brian suggests, but don't overdue it since there wasn't any direct illumination here. Agree the bird needs more room above and below.

Probably prefer this to the previous one Jon, framing looks spot on to me as you have the 'weight/interest'' at the top half of the frame.

A simple Tonal Curve adjustment and a tweak in the Colour grad just adds a bit more to the scene and opens some more detail masked as discussed above IMHO.

I like it a lot as presented. Perhaps some of the suggestions above would improve it.

Hi Jon .. a bit late , but not too late to say that I really like the image .
Nice subject and well processed ... a touch more overall brightness for me .

Other than that ..... cool work , a peach as you like to say , at times .

    TFS Andreas
