    Default Grey Fantail silhouette

    A1/100-400.

    1/3200, iso6400, f5.6

The almost perfectly flat spread of the wings was pretty neat I thought. A bit of a surprise from an otherwise rather gloomy day.

I like the wings but the head came out too dark and it also has motion blur. overall dark bird against bright BG is challenging to make a keeper

Hi Duncan, my comments pretty much echo what Arash said. Wings are great, but the bird is overall too dark. Need to increase that exposure when shooting against the light sky with a dark bird.

Hi Duncan, I also echo what Arash wrote. I have tried and failed so many times to photograph a dark bird against a bright sky. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks, there is no detail in the black at all.

This one does not have the "wow" factor of your previous posts, but I can understand the difficulty factor. Even with the second image, I think more can be shown of the face...but at the expense of shutter speed or higher ISO. Impressive tail spread from this bird.
