Default Yellow-billed Magpie - Swoop de Do

Had to do some stamp work on the bkg and a few other edits but other than that this one is pretty much full frame. Next frame had wings in downward position and fully stopped but had movement here. Hate to keep posting the same birds (Acorns and Maggies) but I'm focusing on them for right now. It sure is fun.

Very nice, impressed with the super fine white feather detail showing on the back. I also wondered if a bit more space under and in front and less on top would impart more of a hanging in space feel. Just a thought.

Spot on for me (I understand the obsession, I got that with starlings!). My only suggestion would be to lift the darkest areas a little.

Love the tail curl and good wing position! Tough exposure on these guys and looks like you handled it well. Yes the darks could be lifted a touch more, but still I think you did good on it. Yes to more space in front of the bird.

Nothing wrong with focusing on the same subjects! I love the tail - super cool! Nice pose. To me he head (which has a perfect head angle BTW) seems soft here though (but the tail and feet look sharp). Keep it up, these have been fun to look at.

Cool looking tail. The head looks soft.

love the pose super dynamic, you were a bit short on SS. the upper part of the body where there is movement has motion blur and came out a bit soft, otherwise perfect. For these I'd use 1/4000 or 1/5000 sec to get everything sharp.

you have been coming up with some great and unique stuff Joel! keep it up

Hi Jay ... another very cool flight pose .
Very well timed capture and the look of the bird towards the viewer is priceless .
Colors are very nice and the tones from HL to 3/4 range as well , personally I might go slight less " heavy " with the dark dark tones .
Would expect ( as this is full frame ) an overall sharper output with finer details rendered .

Nevertheless a pleasure to look at your BIF shots , as you show some really cool poses of your subjects ...

Thanks for input everyone. Yes, the next frame was sharper on the body (but not the tail and no "swoop") so I went with this one. Sadly, still have movement or lack of clear focus on the face. Not terrible but not terribly good either. Will be back at this on Friday.
