Dottie and I went to Ft. Desoto early yesterday morning. Any help identifying this bird would be appreciated, I struggle to identify shorebirds. Comments and critique welcomed and appreciated. Thank you for viewing.

Hi Joe lovely preening pose , looks like sweet light ... so I would go a tad warmer in the WB .
    Nice low POV .
Subject is looking a bit too grainy for my taste

Lovely pose Jo, my guess is a Sanderling, I like the composition but could also envisage the bird to the left of centre.
The image looks a little bit cold to me.

Yes, it is a Sanderling, a molting adult. I would have liked the bird on the left side of the frame, or more to the right; it is too centered as posted.

Good job of getting on sun angle, a nice preening pose, sharp with a good EXP, and I like the raised foot.

Do you have a copy of my Shorebirds; Beautiful Beachcombers??? We have only a handful in stock. It was written just for you. It covers the aging and identification of all the regularly occurring North American shorebird species.

Thank you Andreas, Jon, and Artie for viewing and commenting. I did some more work on the image. I thought after looking this morning that the image had too much empty space and as mentioned that the bird was too centered. After cropping the image tighter around the bird, the image was quite small because of the size of the bird. I used Photoshop/Lightroom's Enhance with Super Resolution checked to enlarge the image. Here is a repost.

    Love the little sanderling.
I prefer the OP as I find the repost too tight.
If mine, I would place dead center in the frame.
Agree on warming up the image a tad. Repost looks better for color balance.
    Nice light and pose,
    Gail

Hi Joe ... just for the sake of interest , what is this "Photoshop/Lightroom's Enhance with Super Resolution" doing to the image and why have you used it for the RP ????

Hi Andreas, it a new addition to Lightroom in the most recent update. When used it doubles the linear size of a image and Super Resolution increases the resolution of a image. I tried it to see how well it works. If interested in knowing more here is a link.

Hi Andreas, I thought it worked quite well. Reading about it online it would be used to enlarge and increase the resolution of a image for printing larger than could be done with the original image. Not sure if you use Lightroom but if you have the most recent update look under Photo in the top menu and the sixth one down is Enhance.
