Another image from my portfolio for the IFC contest. My ranch had extensive predator control and I didn't figure I would have much luck with bobcats and coyotes. I was quite happy to find them visiting my waterhole at night. I only saw them one time in daylight. The back side of the tank was quite a distance from my blind so I used 4 flashes with better beamers to light the entire area.

    Canon Eos 1d3, EF600mmF4, 1.4x, 4 flashees with better beamers triggered by ST-E2, ISO 800, 1/250 @ F7.1

Neat to be able to capture an image of one in the wild. I like the sharpness and patterns visible in the fur. The green strip of water and the shadow from the flash are a little overpowering for me but still a neat image.

Nice work Robert, as always. The face looks bright as it has more white portions than the rest of the body. However, that attracts the attention as well. Love this image. I am sure, you shots would go all the way to the winners podium. Cheers in advance.

The contest si scored via a point system with each image in the 60 image portfolio recieiving a score of 1-30. Three judges scoring 1-10 then totaled. The total score of the 60 images (if you got 60 during the month since there were specific cataogories to fill and only 2 images allowed of any one subject) decided the grand prize winners. They also are giving the top 20 images per catagory a $500 prize. I was notified by IFC that I am one of the top three grand prize winners and have individual images winning prizes as well but no more details until Sept 6th. Our own Jason Hahn and Jasper Doest managed to be in the top ten finishers and in the money....

    Very COOL Robert!!!!!
This image is a clear winner for sure. I love the expression on this cats face. The lighting is a bit stronger toward the front of the cat but that only brings attention to those eyes and that expression. The color and detail of this critter is incredible.
    Thanks for sharing. And Congrats!!!

I envy anyone who gets images of Bobcats. This one is in a class by itself!
