Here is another image from my latest outing. I only wish it was a male, but he refused to hit anything but the feeder.

Well, this female looks great so she's a great subject as well! Beautiful flower too. I love the curled foot barely peeking through the feathers. A bit of faint posterization starting to show in the BG - I sometimes get that as well when downsizing a too-smooth BG...I do not know why it does that when it does.

While I like the flower and the peek at the foot, this one does not do it for me with the blurred near wig and the head turned well away from us.

Hi Kurt, I've looked at this a few times and sorry, but it's the same comments as the previous posting, just appears flat and no life to the image.

Hi Kurt ... I quite like the image content.
I am ok with the pose and head angle of the hummer ... I am not that nerdy on that front .
Personally I am more concerned about the IQ which is not really there in my opinion .
Difficult to say without seeing the raw file ... just think the critical sharpness and the fine details could be better . Well I am partially agree with Steve about the tonality .... being flat and colors ( apart from those reds ) are somehow lifeless .
The BG is looking " noisy" or cloudy or it is posterization ..... again without seeing the raw or the tif difficult to say .

The posterization could be fixed with the right NR..
It is sharp and does look flat to me.. I have no idea what others are talking about as usual....
A fine natural light Hummer image. Steve and Andreas can only dream about...

Dan, not sure your point, please explain your last paragraph, as I have photographed Hummingbirds in Ecuador, have you?

No I have not, but you and Andreas are great well meaning critics who know photoshop but do not know bird photography....
If you have great photos, post them, I have been a member for years. I don't remember any..
Not personal but a lot of what you guys say is not correct, IMO.

Dan, they were posted way back in 2009, before you joined, I can’t remember when Andreas went. Sadly the last trip scheduled for 2019 was cancelled due to CV19, otherwise you would have seen the images.

As to what we both say in terms of feedback is correct based on experience, especially in terms of PP. There are a lot of folk, past and present who have excelled from the advice given both within a thread and often off site.
