    Taken 2 days ago at the Carmel River Lagoon, Carmel, California on a very nice
    Whale/bird trip. Monterey is as nice as it gets.....

    Excellent action. Split background is a bit distracting but it does show the shake really well. Exposure looks good and details decent foe 1/2500. The feet peeking out are a nice bonus. And this is a Caspian Tern; the thick, red beak is a dead giveaway. Elegant's would we longer, thinner, and more orange. Side-by-side, Elegant is much smaller and thinner.

    Thanks Dorian, I am sure you are correct.. I was told by some birders on the beach these were Elegant Terns. They were extremely loud and obnoxious even for Terns...

    Yeah, Caspian for sure. That big fish is great. Not sure I've seen any tern eat anything larger, skimmers excepted of course!

    The shake off is great with all those water drops. I could see more room around.
