Hi Will, we also have these geese in Florida. Most likely a feral population that escaped from somewhere and bred. Detail and colors look good, I like the dark background. I have a twin of this image but the background is green from grass. Thank you for sharing.

Hi Will, it works with the strong light here, as it's highlighted with the strong shadows, the jagged feather detail on the neck.

Being picky the yellow ring around the eye, just selectively darken it and add some more selective USM, you should see more detail. Why, because I posted a very similar shot a few years back using the same camera and same backdrop (well not the same backdrop, just again very similar).

Very nice indeed Will, my suggestion would be to lose the nictitating membrane, otherwise rinky tinky.

Really great close up Will. The texture in the beak is fantastic and love the catchlight in the eye!

Pretty wild how gritty the texture in the neck feathers portray. The light accentuates them for sure.

Really nice effect against the dark bkg. Composition is strong as is the frame on the whole. Nicely seen sir!

The light makes this one and that dark background helps alot. Love that texture on those neck feathers. Very nice portrait.
