Hi Wayne, I really like the BG and the open bill! nice light too. The position of the far wing was unfortunate especially the part that is sticking below the head and looks like a "double chin" You would think that at 20 fps you'd have a few at least with a better far wing before or after this frame...?

I might also sharpen just a touch more.

Very nice Wayne. Striking pose with the beak open, and a background that contrasts nicely. I do feel the darks on the wing/body areas look a tad "muddy", but this could be due to the NR used. The dark circular oof section on the left I find distracting. I'm also seeing a halo around the bird, mainly over the top of the wing. This is easily corrected in Photoshop. Do you use that? Happy to describe the method if you need it.

    Hey Arash and Paul

Thank you very much for your valued input. I have taken another frame from the same set and tinkered a little more. Paul would gladly take on your method of removing halo cheers

2nd one a bit better but still not ideal, tough with cormi's as they don't fully raise or lower wings

Wayne, the best way to resolve halos is not to have them/or create them, it all stems from sharpening. Providing the raw is sharp, then halos are non existent, it all comes from aggressive sharpening and ramping up numbers, but also when to apply sharpening. Most images will often require similar sharpening, however some may need less or more, so take each capture on its own merits.

PSCC is still the best for sharpening and getting to grips is paramount, otherwise you will spend too much time tickling in images, they won’t look great, often visible, makes for sloppy PP, why make life hard.

Wayne, are you masking the bird from the background in your post process? Are you using denoise on, and sharpening the whole image as one?

Far wing is a bit of a bummer but I like the luminosity of the op better personally. Yes to evicting that circle at left.
