John, great look at this common (and frankly annoying at times) subject.

Certainly the goal of shooting a Grackle in my eyes would be to highlight the iridescence and you delivered that in spades. Perfect broadside pose with nice HA.

Due to the simplicity of the small grained sand and easy bkg transition I would be tempted to evict the little clumps underneath.
