This adult loon was captured last month, as he cruised the lake with his freshly hatched chicks. Rather an intimidating stare.

Normally don't use such a small f/stop, but was trying to keep the family in focus when this pose developed.

I liked the red reflection of his right iris in the drop on the right cheek.

    Advice and comments always appreciated.

    Cheers

Me too with that stare... Your usual intimate low POV treatment and love the water droplets. TFS

Hi Randy, like the low POV and the head on view offers a quirk look.

DATPA! And the red reflection is in more than a few water droplets, those beautifully revealed by the light!

Hi Randy, lovely image and different prospective of a Loon image. As Artie wrote, ditto all the positive comments. F/10 may have helped getting the tip of the bill in focus. Thank you for sharing.

A dramatic looking bird indeed. Love the pose, low pov and colours.

Love the eye level shot and the stare, not to mention the excellent details.

Hi Randy, I have always known you as the Loon master with all your excellent Loon images. Having said that, I do not recall you ever having posted an angle as posted. I really like this head on, low perspective shot. Well exposed to show up the sheen on the head, and like everyone else, the droplets takes this over the top. Well captured.
