Try not to blink when going for a staring contest with this grumpy, mean, angry, seriously serious heron! If you are a fish, frog, or other small animal turn around and flee as fast as you can.....

That is one wicked stare. Love how this beauty pops off the dark BG. Super details but my favorite thing about this canvas is the faint head plumes. TFS

Certainly has a very 'discerning' look Dan.

Love the symmetry Daniel, but it works even better with the asymmetry of the neck line juxtaposed.

Rich colors and dramatic dark bkg. Agree w/ David on the plumage hidden on the left. Sweet composition, enjoyed this one!

    Daniel:

Fun one. Agree with the crew.
Would have been interesting to have a frame with the head tipped up just a few more degrees to see the eyes a bit better, but perhaps that would reduce the threatening stare effect!

Really like the rich tones in the plumage.

    Cheers

Well, sure doesn't look like the friendliest blue heron in town. Nice vertical framing. Works great against that dark background.
