The image was captured at a local reserve as I was walking around. There was a large flower head on the RHS, I eventually decided it had to go.

Hi Jon, love the HA and the grub in the bill, excellent timing. Love the Bullrush, very natural and the BKG works, with some gorgeous separation, tonally I think you can do more, but Im on the laptop. Don't like the crop, the format and space issn't working for me. A tighter crop and perhaps, dare I say... a 4x3????

Thanks Steve, yes I did various versions on the bird and background, the bird you see is very slightly increased in contrast compared to the initial raw file and I have reduced the contrast and patchiness in the background. It's the old story what looks "good" and what looks how it was.

The crop/shape hey I'm not precious at all I don't see what is wrong with 4:3, it was of course originally I suppose I changed it because I didn't think most folks like it.

    I personally like the crop!
Love the soft tones of the greens and the nice perch and treats in the mouth.
Your PP looks good re: evicting the flower.

Nice pose and view of the grub. I do like the perch. I would burn it a hair or two.
